HABITEIN (2) could only manage seventh when resuming at Warrnambool two runs back then improved last start but found a couple better over 1m at Hamilton, beaten 2. 25 lengths after being in contention on the bend. Best figures measure up. Sure to run well. RUSCELLO (7) doesn't boast the best winning strike rate but ran a strong race last time out, finishing third and beaten only 1. 75 lengths over 6½f at Penola when he worked home well. Looks well placed so expect a big run this time. GUARDED OPTIMIST (1) was unplaced two runs back then again missed the frame last start over 1m2 1/4f at Doomben, beaten 5 lengths into sixth. No surprise to see him in contention.
