GROUSE MOUNTAIN (1) was narrowly beaten last start when second in a small field over 5f at Caulfield Heath at the first run of the campaign. Logan Bates who has scored on her two times retains the mount. Will strip fitter so expect her to feature. BETWITCHERY (3) is back from a four-and-a-half months lay-off and she does run well when resuming, including a win over 6f at Benalla at the start of last prep. Fitter for a minor placing in a recent Flemington trial. Solid chance. MARBLE POINT (13) finished second last start at the first run back from a lay-off over 6f at Pakenham, beaten half a length. Must raise the bar but a big run will not surprise. CHEWING GUM (11) did a good job last time, finishing in the money when second over 6½f at Geelong. Facing a tougher assignment but cannot be underestimated.
