ZAKU (7) started at 4/1 last time and ran below expectations, finishing fifth and beaten 3 lengths at Ballarat over 7½f. Taking on a better line-up this time but he deserves another chance. ITSUKUSHIMA (1) showed good early pace over 7f at Horsham last time and kept going to score by a neck. Should settle handy in the run. Must raise the bar but another big run will not surprise. SMART DEEL (6) made late ground and finished 1.5 lengths from the winner in fifth last start over 7f at Flemington, an improvement on her eighth at Caulfield Heath the run before. Perfectly placed and is sure to take plenty of stopping. CAPRICORN STAR (9) got off the mark over 7f at Cranbourne last start, scoring by a head. Sparingly raced and has more to offer. Jamie Mott was in the saddle on that occasion and retains the mount. Must be respected now that the penny has dropped.
