ASVA (1) is a four-year-old gelding who is having his first run for the Glenn Stevenson barn. Hasn't raced since finishing in the placings at Beaumont (Newcastle) nine weeks ago. Ran fourth in a trial over 4f at Longford and goes well fresh from a lay-off, filling a placing three times from four runs. Expected to go close. DAYAN STAR (2) missed the placings two runs back then improved last start but found one better over 6f at Hamilton, beaten half a length. Well placed and there is no reason he cannot find winning ways. HEAD'EM (4) finished 4.5 lengths away in eighth last time out over 5½f at Colac when when resuming from a lay-off as 3/1 favourite. Steps up in distance. Meets a much tougher line-up this time but can measure up. LOUD MOUTH (5) recorded his first win last start over 7f at Hobart, getting home by a head. David Pires was in the saddle on that occasion and retains the ride. Harder here but should be involved in the finish.
