BEATS OF WAR (1) turned in a nice effort to score two runs ago at this track. Less impressive last time out when 14th over 1m2f at Pinjarra, beaten 8 lengths. Clint Johnston-Porter gets the best out of this four-year-old gelding. Will enjoy a drop in class so he is a leading contender. ICEBERGS (12) went forward last start and proved too strong, getting home by a long neck over 1m at this track. Should settle handy in the run. Meets some better types this time but another big run will not surprise. BRAVE CONTENDER (2) improved sharply on his ninth two starts back at this track with success over 7½f at Albany three weeks ago, getting home by a head after being in contention on the bend. Needs to be at his best to beat this field but he can go back-to-back. ALASKAN (8) did a great job to score by 0.8 lengths over this course and distance last time out to continue his outstanding recent form. Finds another suitable race and can go on with the job.
