DEION (2) is close to breaking through after two consecutive placings, the latest coming when third over 6½f at Narromine after being prominent from the outset. Should enjoy a good run just off the speed. Best figures measure up. Sure to run well. EVERLASTING STARS (8) is back in class after finishing 4.5 lengths away in 11th over 6f at Rosehill a week-and-a-half ago. Can play a big role in the finish. ROTHGATE (3) ran well below his best last time over 5½f at Coonamble, beaten 5 lengths into eighth at 4/1. Should park just off the speed. Must be respected.
