VARANE (4) drifted well back last start then wound up strongly to finish fourth, beaten 1.75 lengths, over 6f at Mornington. Will drift back but is sure to prove tough to beat. JESSUP (2) missed the placings two starts back then ran a better race and finished 2 lengths away in fifth last time out over 6½f at Geelong after being in the firing line on the corner. Nicely placed to feature in the finish. STUBBYHOLLER (3) was heavily backed and justified the support when resuming last start over 5½f at this track, scoring by a neck. Open to plenty of improvement and another big run will not surprise. GOING NUCLEAR (5) was out of the money two runs back then again missed the frame last start over 7f at Bendigo, beaten 6 lengths into fourth. Suitably placed so can turn things around.
