Leading contender. CAVENTE (5) improved sharply on her seventh two starts back at Rockhampton with a win over 6f at this track three weeks ago, getting home by a nose. Tackling a deeper field this time but she is good enough to cope. HOLY CROWN (9) was comfortably accounted for when fourth last time out over 7f at Rockhampton, beaten 5 lengths after being prominent at the corner. That followed a win at Mackay at the previous outing. Has the class to figure prominently. STAR GAMBLE (2) progressed nicely last time out to finish just a head from the winner in third over 6f at this track. No surprise to see him in the mix.
