ASTERN EFFORT (7) remains a maiden after 10 runs. Had plenty of admirers last time and finishing a close third over 6¾f at Ipswich. Goes well at this trip, recording three minor placings and should prove tough to beat. CASTLEREAGH AFFAIR (9) is a filly by Castelvecchio out of Romantic Affair who is at the races for the first time. Showed ability in a recent trial win at Doomben. Worth watching for positive market moves. TURBO TORQUE (17) is racing well without winning. Last start finished third, beaten 0. 6 lengths, over 7½f at Rockhampton. Among the chances again. PEARLS IN JUNE (14) resumes from a lay-off of six months. Could only manage to finish fourth at the latest run over 7f at Gold Coast. Placed in a recent trial. Nicely placed and can figure in the finish.
