MAKO (9) finished out of the money two starts back then was beaten 16 lengths when seventh over 7¼f at Illawarra Grange five weeks ago after being prominent at the turn. Has the ability to take care of this field. LEOVANNI (6) missed the frame when resuming last start over 6½f at this track but wasn't all that far from the winner. Has never been out of the placings at this stage of the prep. Among the winning hopes. HAILSTONES (8) is a superbly bred two-year-old gelding on debut. By Noverre from the former top race mare Cool Storm who has produced some fine gallopers, including a winner at the elite level. Was out of the placings at Muswellbrook at his most recent trial. SERIOUS JEWEL (10) turned in a moderate effort on debut last start when sixth at this track over 5½f, beaten 4. 5 lengths. Fitter and with blinkers applied he makes plenty of appeal.
