OUR MAGNUS (7) built on a nice second when fresh from a lay-off two starts back at Toowoomba with success over 6f at Toowoomba two weeks ago, getting home by a head. Likely to be in the finish again. SCUD (10) resumed three weeks ago over 6f at Gold Coast and was only beaten 1. 75 lengths into fifth. Has a solid second up record. Fitter so anticipating a better run this time. TARTAGLIA (16) turned in a strong performance when resuming when in the money at Coffs Harbour but disappointed last time when ninth, beaten 3 lengths, at Newcastle over 6¼f. Needs to be at his best to beat this field but he is up to the challenge. MAXIMUM VORTEX (6) returned from a lay-off two weeks ago when he was in the firing line on the turn before being beaten 2 lengths into fourth over 6f at Lismore. Fitter so can feature in the finish.
