GYRA (6) improved last time out, finishing 0. 6 lengths from the winner in second at the end of 5¾f at Beaumont (Newcastle) after being in the firing line on the corner. Facing a tougher assignment but she is good enough to figure in the finish. THE CONTRACTOR (2) was close to breaking through last time, beaten just a long neck over 6f at Dubbo after being in contention on the bend. Meeting a tougher field but on his best form he is one of the key runners. FORTIANS (8) has recorded two minor placings from three runs this campaign. Produced another good effort last time out when third over 5f at Orange. Must be included in this sort of form.
