DEMPSEY (2) is a eight-start maiden who looks close to breaking the duck after finishing in the placings at his last couple of runs, most recently when 4. 5 lengths away in third over 1m at Kilmore. Blinkers have been removed. Should be in the finish. COLOUR CIRCLE (1) did little and finished 7 lengths from the winner in sixth over 1m at Pakenham last start, a less impressive effort than his fifth at Moe the run before. This is a nice drop in grade so he is a major player. QUEEN VICTORIOUS (20) resumes from a lay-off of six-and-a-half months. Could only manage to finish fifth at the latest run over 7f at Geelong. Has trialled three times leading into this. Among the chances while fresh. ROYAL BUSINESS (17) settled well back from a wide draw last time then wound up strongly to finish fifth over 7f27yards at Werribee. Warrants plenty of respect.
