French Open order of play, day five: Iga Swiatek and Daniil Medvedev set for centre stage

The second round continues at Roland Garros as the French Open continues to hot up nicely.

The French Open roles on into a fifth day on Thursday, with the second round coming to a conclusion.
At this stage of the tournament we are still generally struggling for big-name match-ups, but that doesn't mean there is not plenty to keep you interested.

What to watch out for

With the mega-names of the ATP already safely through into round two, it's the considerably less stacked other half of the draw taking centre stage on day five.
That means Daniil Medvedev resuming his own personal battle with his dislike for clay court tennis. The world number two was impressive in his opening round win, dropping just six games, but he faces an awkward test against Laslo Djere.
Stefanos Tsitsipas is also looking to build on his comeback win over Lorenzo Musetti when he faces Zdenek Kolar. There is British male interest too, with Dan Evans facing the dangerous Swede Mikael Ymer.
There is more star power on the WTA side, though, with Iga Swiatek looking to extend her extraordinary winning streak to 30 matches.
Keep you eye on third seed Paula Badosa too, who is up first on Court Suzanne-Lenglen. Former champion Simona Halep and Jelana Ostapenko are also in action.

Popcorn match: Iga Swiatek vs Alison Riske

If Iga Swiatek is playing right now, you should be watching. It really is that simple.
The Pole is producing some quite stunning tennis right now and, more importantly, producing it regularly.
In terms of an actual contest, this one may not be up there. It certainly shouldn't reach Albert Ramos-Vinolas vs Carlos Alcaraz levels of sheer entertainment, but it's a chance to watch the best player in the world in top form, so why wouldn't you?
There is sure to be a lively atmosphere on Court Philippe-Chatrier for Gilles Simon vs Steve Johnson too. It could be Simon's last match at the Roland Garros.
As ever, watching Daniil Medvedev fighting his own frustrations is generally worth a watch too.
