Celebrating Andy Murray's milestone Tour victories from one through to 700

Andy Murray recorded the 700th tour win of his career at Indian Wells. Andy Schooler looks back on how the Scot brought up his previous milestones.

After Andy Murray claimed his 700th tour-level win courtesy of his 1-6, 6-2, 6-4 victory over Taro Daniel, we take a look back at the other milestone wins of his remarkable career.

1st win - Santiago Ventura - 2005, Queen's Club, first round

It's rather fitting that Murray's first tour-level win came on the grass, given the history he would rewrite at Wimbledon later in his career. This was just his second match on the main tour and claycourt specialist Ventura had no answers as Murray eased to a 6-1 6-2 victory on Court One, a match which in which he didn't face a break point.
"This was a very important match for me - one of the biggest of my career," the 18-year-old said afterwards. Somewhat bigger things were to come though.

100th win - Thomas Johansson - 2008, Doha, quarter-final

Another contest during which the Murray serve didn't give up a break point brought up win number 100. Murray's strong start to the season continued as he dismissed the former Australian Open champion, pulling clear after edging a tight first set - 7-6 6-0 the final scoreline.

200th win - Juan Carlos Ferrero - 2009, Wimbledon, quarter-final

Murray's 200th victory came on the lawns of Wimbledon with former world number one Ferrero put to the sword. His 7-5 6-3 6-2 victory came a couple of days after his famous late-night win over Stan Wawrinka - a match which finished at 10.40pm.
The victory took Murray into the last four for the first time but he would lose to Andy Roddick.

300th win - Mardy Fish - 2011, Cincinnati, semi-final

Murray notched win number 300 en route to the title at the 2011 Cincinnati Masters. Fish hadn't had his serve broken all week but Murray was up to the task, winning 6-3 7-6 to end the American's three-match winning streak against him.

400th win - Florian Mayer - 2013, Madrid, second round

The Scot was made to fight for this landmark victory, staving off five set points in the first set before emerging a 7-6 7-6 victor against the gangly German.
During a period which had seen Murray win both his first Grand Slam title at the US Open and Olympic gold, it had taken him just 122 matches to post this set of 100 wins.

500th win - Kevin Anderson - 2015, Miami, third round

Murray became just the 46th male player in tennis' Open Era to win 500 career matches by defeating Anderson here. He put a second-set wobble aside against the big-serving South African to win 6-4 3-6 6-3 in Florida.

600th win - Kevin Anderson - 2016, Cincinnati, third round

Anderson was also Murray's opponent for his 600th win, one which came during the absolute peak of his powers.
This comfortable 6-3 6-2 victory arrived just days after claiming the second Olympic gold of his career in Rio and was part of a stunning second half of 2016 that would see him finish the year as world number one.
His form as this stage of his career is summed up by the fact he took just 507 days to go from 500 to 600 wins.
The Briton felt it was apt for the milestone to come in Cincinnati. "I got a wild card here when I was 18," he said. "I also won my first Masters 1000 here, so it's a place that means a lot to me."

700th win - Taro Daniel - 2022, Indian Wells, first round

At one point it didn't look like Murray would make it to 700 career wins but, now the owner of a metal hip, he's finally made it.
The last 100 wins may have taken five-and-a-half years but the fight he has shown to get to this point will be very much part of Murray's legacy.
No singles player had previously managed to return to play at this level following a hip replacement. The 34-year-old had made a 700th win one of targets for 2022 and with that now achieved, who knows what else now lies ahead? 800 anyone?
