Rangers will be looking to kick-start their season in the Champions League qualifiers, but don't expect their Swiss opponents to roll over.

The Scottish giants started the new season with an unexpected defeat to Kilmarnock, while Servette produced one of the surprises of the preliminary rounds in the Champions League so far by knocking out Genk.

    Verdict:

Rangers' suprise defeat at Kilmarnock will see the Glasgow club determined to return to winning ways in Europe.
Rangers invested a lot in attacking players, including Danilo, Cyriel Dessers and Sam Lammers and Abdallah Sima, but even so they couldn't score in the first game of the new season.
Servette Geneva finished second last season in Switzerland, behind the champions Young Boys, the team that has dominated the Swiss league in the last few years.

Servette's victory over Genk was impressive. After 1-1 draw in the first leg, a ten-man Servette went behind twice before they fought back to take the match to penalties, where sub keeper Joel Mall saved two spot-kicks to help the Swiss side qualify for the next round.

The Swiss side have already played five games this season, and are yet to lose. A 3-1 away win against Grasshopper on the opening day of the season, certainly gave them a kick start.

This will be the first ever Rangers vs Servette, and don't expect the Scottish side to brush aside their opponents. Another spluttering performance is expected.
