Marseille vs Atalanta tips and predictions: Aubemyang to fire Les Minots to victory

Olympique Marseille have been paired with Atalanta in the Europea League semi-finals and Sergiu is expecting the French side to prevail on Thursday (2000 BST).

Liverpool’s conquerors have been handed the tricky task of visiting Marseille at Stade Velodrome in the first leg of the Europa League semi-finals.

The Italians are fighting to make their first-ever European final with their best effort being a 4-2 aggregate loss to Mechelen in the 1987/88 Cup Winners Cup semi-final.

On the other hand, the decorated French club have six appearances in finals to their name, winning the Champions League in 1993 and the Intertoto Cup in 2005.

The 2018 Europa League finalists finished second in Group B, two points behind Brighton. They went on to eliminate Shakhtar (5-3), and Villarreal (5-4) and beat Benfica (2-2) on penalties.

Before this, OM managed a 2-1 win against Lens in round 31 in Ligue 1. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Pape Gueye scored the goals in a win that lifted Marseille to seventh.

La Dea flew through the group stages, claiming four wins and two draws as they rattled in 12 goals and averaged just 0.66 goals against per match.

Gian Piero Gasperini’s side toppled Sporting (3-2) in their first knockout tie before stunning Liverpool with a 3-0 win at Anfield and a 3-1 aggregate victory.

The side from Bergamo are still competing on all fronts as they recently reached the Coppa Italia final and they’re in good form in Serie A as they hunt down fifth-place Roma.

The Italians have found a way to get the job done all season but Marseille’s only home defeat in 23 matches was against PSG, so winning in France looks a tall order.
