Fiorentina vs Roma tips: Back Jose Mourinho’s Roma to pinch a point in Florence

Fiorentina and Roma are expected to rotate heavily when the sides meet in a Serie A fixture at Stadio Artemio Franchi on Saturday.

Fiorentina and Roma, the two Italian teams with a Europa League and Europa Conference League final to look forward to, might consider this fixture an unwanted distraction.

Fiorentina vs AS Roma (Saturday May 27, 5pm)

Fiorentina have nothing to play for in the Serie A table and are likely to rotate their squad with the focus shifting to their games against West Ham in Prague.
La Viola sit 11th in the Serie A table and have missed the opportunity to qualify for European competition via their league standing. A win in the UECL final would propel them into the Europa League.
Roma occupy sixth, two places and four points behind AC Milan. They could still qualify for the Champions League via the traditional route but would need results to fall their way.
A more probable route would be winning the Europa League final against Sevilla, but Jose Mourinho's side won't want to finish the season empty-handed. Juventus could yet pip them to the sixth and final European place in the Serie A standings.
Suggested bet: Bet on AS Roma double chance
Fiorentina could also be left to rue missed chances. Nicolas Gonzalez gave them a 3rd-minute lead against Inter Milan in the Coppa Italia final on Wednesday, only for a Lautaro Martinez brace to turn the game on its head.
Looking at the form, it isn't a very good time for Fiorentina. They've just two wins in their last eight matches, also recording four draws and two defeats. Nevertheless, they are undefeated in seven matches at home.
Jose Mourinho's Roma side have sacrificed their Serie A prospects to reach the final of the Europa League in the hopes of qualifying for the Champions League next season. Because of that, Roma are winless in the last six league matches.
The good news for Mourinho is that he'll be able to call upon a number of players returning from injury, although they could be rested anyway. We already know Lorenzo Pellegrini will be left at home.
All things considered, both sides' focus is elsewhere, but Roma can't run the risk of sacrificing a potential Europa Conference League spot for a final they may not win.
