Milan face Dortmund at San Siro on Tuesday night in one of the most attractive fifth-round games in the Champions League group stage.

Group F is the most interesting and the most competitive group, with just three points separating all four teams, -  Dortmund are leaders with seven points, followed by PSG with six points, Milan with five and Newcastle are last, but not necessarily least, with four points.

The team led by Stefano Pioli have the second-worst attack in the Champions League, having found their opponents’ net just twice in four games (only Benfica are doing worse offensively, with one goal scored so far).

Meanwhile Dortmund have only scored one more goal than their hosts here, but they currently share the best defensive record in the competition, alongside teams like Barcelona, Inter Milan and Real Sociedad, all of whom have leaked just two goals in four games.

Milan’s most recent domestic results have seen them lose ground on their current Serie A leader Inter, who are currently six points clear of their arch-rivals.

In the last ten competitive games the Rossoneri have just four wins, with their other six outings split between three defeats and three draws.

On the other side Dortmund have enjoyed an impressive start in the Champions League to sit proudly on top of this very tough group.

In the Bundesliga, however, Edin Terzic’s players are already ten points adrift of Bundesliga table toppers Bayer Leverkusen after losing to both Bayern Munich and, more surprisingly, Stuttgart, so far in November.

Previous encounter between these two teams have always been very evenly contested, and with so much at stake in such a tight group, both teams are likely to be happy with a point that could leave their fate in their own hands going into the final round of group games next month.
