West Ham's £15m deal for Emerson Palmieri gets the green light

Emerson Palmieri
West Ham have agreed a £15million fee with Chelsea for Emerson Palmieri, according to reports.
The 28-year-old wing-back is expected to sign a five-year deal with West Ham, with the medical set to be completed on Monday. All being well the club will formally announce the transfer on Tuesday.
The transfer is rumoured to cost around £13m with £2m in add-ons, and Emerson could be set for a wage increase too with his reported £70k-a-week at Chelsea being boosted to nearly £100k if he moves across London.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the deal with his customary 'here we go' Tweet on Monday afternoon.
The Italian international will add much needed competition to the left-side of West Ham's defence, and could see manager David Moyes start to employ a back three with wing backs on a more regular basis.
Emerson struggled to find a place in Thomas Tuchel's Chelsea first team over the last two seasons, and has only made 71 appearances across all competitions in a five-year stint at the West London club.
He spent the 2021/22 season on loan at Lyon, making 36 appearances and scoring one goal, playing in both legs of the French side's Europa League defeat to West Ham.
West Ham currently sit bottom of the Premier League with three defeats and no goals, with the side looked incredibly lacklustre in their 2-0 defeat to bogey-side Brighton on Sunday.
