Transfer Zone: Manchester United's strategy revealed, plus Liverpool eye up Real Madrid star

Beaten to a player by another club? Deny any links and rumours in the first place. At least that appears to be Manchester United's strategy. Plus Liverpool are keen on buying a Real Madrid midfielder.

Manchester United's ego was bruised as they were beaten to yet another player this transfer window. This time it was Porto midfielder Vitinha, who was linked with a move to Old Trafford before ending up signing for Paris Saint-Germain.

There's only one reasonable solution when your transfer target chooses to go elsewhere... and that's of course to deny any links and interest in the first place.

As for Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp continues to make moves in the window, with Marco Asensio apparently his latest target.

A £35million fee has been discussed for the Spaniard who scored 10 goals in 19 appearances last season. Clever business?

Arsenal fans have really been reduced to believing their club can't bring in a new player without seeing another leave.

Is it possible - hear me out - that Raphinha could come in, AND Bukayo Saka stay?
Raheem Sterling is reportedly close to joining Chelsea this summer for £35million. As long as he isn't handed the cursed No.9 shirt then all should be well...
The mystery of Sammy Ameobi...
Remember him? The former Newcastle United player returned to the North East in 2021 to represent Middlesborough. Well, kind of. He didn't actually make a single appearance for the side and is now set to leave on a free.
Any takers?
