Thomas Frank charged by FA just days after signing contract extension at Brentford

Thomas Frank confirmed his future lies at Brentford this week, but the 48-year-old has since been charged by the FA following his outburst at Wolves.

Following Brentford's 2-1 loss atΒ Wolves last weekend,Β Thomas Frank stormed onto the pitch to confront referee Peter Bankes before being embroiled in a heated row with Joao Moutinho.

Bankes initially showed Frank a yellow card before upgrading it to a red when the Dane continued to protest.
Frank appeared agitated on the touchline when Moutinho went down during the match and received lengthy treatment for an injury.
It followed an incident that saw the match momentarily paused after a drone hovering above the stadium interfered with play.
Having already seen so much time pass, Frank was clearly annoyed by the alleged time wasting from the Wolves midfielder, but his post-match reactions have earned him a telling off.
The FA have intervened to charge the 48-year-old with 'improper conduct' regarding use of unacceptable behaviour directed towards a match official.
A statement released read, "Thomas Frank has been charged with a breach of FA Rule E3.1 following Brentford FC's Premier League match on Saturday [22/01/22] against Wolverhampton Wanderers FC.
"It is alleged that the manager's language and/or behaviour towards the match referee after the final whistle was improper, and he has until Thursday [27/01/22] to provide a response."
Frank did address the situation directly after the match had finished, speaking in his post-match interview.
"I was frustrated we didn't get a point but I was relatively calm and there was a situation which triggered it," explained Frank.
"I got a yellow card after a confrontation with a Wolves player, then I turned round to Peter and said 'you can give me a second one as well'. He said it was because I was turning around and too aggressive."
The sanctions came just days after Frank and his assistant manager Brian Riemer pledged their future to Brentford, signing a contract extension running through until 2025.
