Six Premier League players who will be sidelined for the start of the 2022/23 season
The Premier League season kicks off again on the weekend of August 6 but these six key players already know they will be forced to watch from the sidelines…or the treatment bench.
The December World Cup in Qatar will mean an earlier than usual start to the 2022/23 Premier League season.
However, for these six players even a traditional starting mid-August starting date would be too soon for them to be considered ready for first-team action.
Ezri Konsa (Aston Villa)
"It's not great news, but we're quite relieved because we thought it was going to be an ACL injury," said Gerrard.
Ezri Konsa ruled out for 12-16 weeks after sustaining serious knee injury. "We're quite relieved because we thought we were dealing with an ACL," says Steven Gerrard. Elsewhere, Emi Martinez picked up injury in training this morning which could see Robin Olsen make his #avfc bow. pic.twitter.com/GMdnTvg654

Andros Townsend (Everton)
Townsend suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury during Everton's FA Cup quarter-final tie defeat to Crystal Palace.
Stuart Dallas (Leeds)
The 31-year-old was involved in a heavy collision with Jack Grealish and had to be taken off on a stretcher shortly before half-time.
Huge thank you for all of the messages I’ve received in the past few days. I’ve had amazing support from across the world of football - but particularly from Leeds and Northern Ireland. I’d also like to thank Dr Williams, Dr Sarraf and the medical team at @LUFC

Luke Ayling (Leeds United)
Tino Livramento (Southampton)
Livramento enjoyed an impressive debut season after moving to Southampton from Chelsea, making 32 appearances before suffering an ACL injury in the first half of Saints' 2-2 draw with Brighton in April.
Jakub Moder (Brighton)
Have some concerns on Brighton’s Jakub #Moder injury.

Appears to plant & pivot as he is bumped by opponent. Not best views; knee appears to go into some valgus (buckles).
Brings worry for ACL &/or meniscal injury.
