Liverpool news: Reds are far from being Manchester City's 'dream draw' in FA Cup, says Jurgen Klopp

Liverpool progressed to the FA Cup semi-finals on Sunday afternoon after edging past Nottingham Forest, but a clash against rivals Manchester City awaits them at Wembley.

Jurgen Klopp's side kept themselves in contention for the quadruple on Sunday, with Diogo Jota's goal enough to book the Reds a spot in the FA Cup semi-finals.

It's a tournament Liverpool have failed to win since 2006, but with just two games now standing between them and the trophy, the Reds have a great chance to end that drought this year.

However, after seeing off Forest, Liverpool were drawn against title rivals Manchester City in the semi-finals, who they'll face at Wembley just six days after their Premier League clash on April 10.

It adds to a hectic schedule for the Reds, who also face Benfica next month in the Champions League quarter-finals as well as a visit from Manchester United.

So while back-to-back games against Manchester City will of course be on the mind of Liverpool players, Klopp urged his side to take it one game at a time.
"We have Watford, Benfica, City, Benfica, City, United, Everton (after the international break)," said the Reds boss.
"From a Liverpool perspective these are all massive games and we try to play them one at a time and not all together.
"We knew before the game City would be the opponent if we wanted to go to the final anyway. Now here we go.
"The further you go in whichever competition, the more likely you are you will face City at one point."

The German coach also insisted that his side will make it tough for City, and added that his team are not Pep Guardiola's "dream draw".

"I don't think we are the dream draw for anyone, but it will be a tough tie and we have to make sure it will be tough for City as well.
"But there are a lot of games to play before that."
The Reds currently trail City by just a point in the Premier League table, having closed the gap in recent weeks.

The international break will give some players a much-needed rest before they return to action on April 2 against Watford.
