Fulham write themselves into the record books with NINETEEN goals in three games

Scoring spree is the second tier’s best since Everton in 1953/54 and comes off the back of an unproductive spell in front of goal for Marco Silva’s side.

Fulham wrote themselves into the history books on Tuesday night when they put six past Birmingham City in a 6-2 thrashing.
The Championship leaders became their first second-tier side since Everton in the 1953/1954 season to score six or more goals in three successive games.
Marco Silva's side had previously won 7-0 at Reading before beating Bristol City, also 6-2. What is perhaps even more remarkable is that Fulham's 19 goals in three games came on the back of a run of five games in which they only scored three times.
It is the second hot streak of the season for the Cottagers who enjoyed another purple patch in October and November in which they scored 19 goals in five games. That also featured a 7-0 win, with Blackburn Rovers the victims that time.
Striker Aleksandar Mitrovic has been grabbing the headlines for Fulham despite failing to provide a goal or an assist in the win over Birmingham. The Serbian has 27 goals and seven assists from his 25 starts in 2021/22. It surpasses his tally for the 2019/20 Championship promotion campaign which saw the striker bag 26 goals and two assists from 40 appearances.
The striker was unable to translate that form into the Premier League last time out and had just three goals and three assists to his name as Fulham came straight back down. Just 13 starts may go some way to explaining the drop-off in output, however.

Five points clear at the top of the Championship, Fulham will be buoyed from the fact that Everton were promoted to the top flight the season they went on their scoring spree.

The Toffees began the run with a 6-2 win at Derby and then beat Brentford 6-1. They rounded off their three-game streak with an 8-4 success against Plymouth - a team they had lost 4-0 to in the reverse fixture.

Everton finished the season in second, a point behind champions Leicester City.

And Stoke, Fulham's opponents on Saturday, can take small comfort from Everton's result immediately after putting eight past Plymouth - a relatively mundane 2-0 victory over Swansea.
