Southwell each-way racing tip (1310): Moroval looking to repeat last year’s outsider heroics

Southwell
After landing us a nice winner at Ludlow on Monday, Tipstrr racing pundit Richard Hutchinson has his eye on another tastily-priced outsider at Tuesday’s jumps meeting at Southwell.

Recent flooding around the course has forced the venue’s organisers to limit spectator access, and has also resulted in multiple withdrawals in most of the races on the card.
This three-mile chase has survived the cull more than most, leaving Star Flyer, Eurkash and Sadler’s Bay as the bookies’ favourites to lead the charge on or around the 3/1 mark.

That apparent vulnerability at the head of the market offers a chink of light for the remaining five runners, especially given the bottomless ground that could well throw up a surprise or two from lower down the betting, and it is the rank outsider Moroval who has caught the eye of Tipstrr each-way specialist Richard Hutchinson.
Yesterday morning, his Read Between The Lines service advised Le Boulevardier at tasty odds of 16/1, and his pick came through in style after being backed right down to 9/2 at the off, so his tip analysis below might be worth a read.
Moroval returns to Southwell for the first time since his shock 100/1 victory in this race last season, and connections are hopeful for the repeat (as indeed are we!).

Tracey Leeson’s 12-year-old is far from sprightly and can easily drop himself out, making it easy for jockeys to give up on him and pull up. However, James Turner rode him perfectly a year ago, and he brings his useful seven-pound claim back to the saddle today.
After the victory his trainer said that the jockey didn’t rush him, but rather let him find his feet, and allowed his stamina to kick in on the slow ground while those around him struggled.
Moroval is undoubtedly well handicapped having postmarked a high of 114 in the past (even allowing for age deterioration), it’s just a case of whether he is in the mood and can give another good ride.
We managed to back him at 66/1 in this seven-runner race, and although that price has long gone and the reduced field has depleted place value, given the conditions and his recent history in this race, he’s still looks worth a cautious each-way play.
- Suggested bet: Moroval each-way in the 13:10 at Southwell
