Southwell best bets: Savvy Brilliance should dominate, but watch out for Rock N Roll Pinkie

The Flat racing action continues apace at the Planet Sport Bet-sponsored all-weather Southwell meeting, where this long-distance handicap sees some big-priced outsiders jostling for a frame finish.

For anyone wishing to bet £70 to make £40 profit, then odds-on favourite Savvy Brilliance fits the bill in a race he is expected to dominate after completing a hat-trick of wins at Wolverhampton in January.

If such a short price does not appeal, then its benefit, of course, is that all the remaining six runners hold decent each-way value to make up the minor placings, or maybe even land a big-priced win if the favourite falters.

That has brought Tipstrr’s each-way aficionados out in force behind the Ivan Furtado-trained bottom-weight Rock N Roll Pinkie, who has also been gaining some traction in the market.

The four-year-old filly does not seem to have done much recently to warrant such support, but she did give an indication of her potential when landing a competitive eight-runner handicap on the turf at Wetherby this time last year.

She returned from a six-month break to produce a couple of modest performances over 14 furlongs at this venue in January, with the second of those a more creditable sixth of ten that appeared to show some progress.

Now rested for a further 11 weeks, she returns relatively fresh for this first attempt over a longer extended two mile-trip, so it appears she is still a work in progress as connection seek her favoured distance (she began her career as a seven-furlong sprinter just 14 months ago).

Rock N Roll Pinkie was available at 33/1 when markets opened on Wednesday night, but that price was quickly slashed in half to stabilise at her current 14/1 tag, which still represents good value for a moderate each-way play.

Suggested best bet: Rock N Roll Pinkie each-way in the 16:50 at Southwell
