14:30 (Southwell) Deal Maker

15:05 (Southwell) Mersea

15:40 (Southwell) Path To Dubai

16:15 (Southwell) Orbaan

16:50 (Southwell) Savvy Brilliance

17:23 (Southwell) Westmorian

13:55 (Southwell) Mutasawi

Mutasawi scored by half a length in a five furlong maiden at Kempton in February. Progressive finding an ideal opportunity to follow up and will be a leading chance in the Race By Race Southwell Specials @Planetsportbet Handicap.

Be Here Now was successful by a head tackling this handicap level and trip at Newcastle. Running well and rates highly.

Soldiers Design showed ability at Kempton finishing a smart second behind the main selection which preceded a good third at Lingfield last week, so will be in the mix.

14:30 (Southwell) Deal Maker

Deal Maker made a winning debut here two weeks ago at a course and distance novice event and has a top chance to follow up in the Best Odds Guaranteed At Planetsportbet Novice Stakes.

Sonic Si profiles nicely on paper racing for a trainer who does well with their two-year-old entries. This Advertise colt out of Free To Love can be considered when resuming.

Similar comments are applied to Winchurch, who is by Churchill out of a Kodiac mare, and holds claims.

Ulysses gelding Chilly Breeze is worth a second look.

15:05 (Southwell) Mersea

Mersea showed plenty of ability last week at Catterick when second in this handicap grade on testing ground over 6f. Can be a serious player in the Bet On The Grand National @Planetsportbet Fillies' Handicap if replicating that form.

Hurt You Never has been running well with a Newcastle five furlong handicap success preceding two good efforts there since including a six furlong fourth last month, so has a big chance.

Alpine Girl produced a decent fourth among this company at Kempton tackling six furlongs a week ago and will be in the mix.

15:40 (Southwell) Path To Dubai

Path To Dubai will be looking to build on a strong start to his career in the Liz And Izzy’s Hoap Podcast Handicap.

A victory on debut was followed by a short-head second to the progressive King Of Spain, who claimed a Doncaster handicap in his next race, suggesting he should be thereabouts for top honours.

16:15 (Southwell): Orbaan

This 12-runner handicap that looks like a great opportunity for the line-up’s only course-and-distance winners How Impressive and Mustajaab to show their prowess again on familiar territory.

Their market support indicates their serious claims here, and the same can be said for early favourite Lion Tower, who finishes second over this distance at Newcastle two months ago, and can probably be forgiven for finishing down the field in Doncaster’s Spring Mile last month, when the ground and the mile trip clearly didn’t suit.

That trio could well make up the first three here, but they hold limited appeal when it comes to backing each one to win, so better value can potentially be found elsewhere, and top-weight Orbaan certainly looks an interesting prospect on his return from a six-month break.

Although winless in 16 outings since the summer of 2022, that barren spell does not tell the full story, because David O’Meara’s nine-year-old has been mixing with much tougher company than this.

Orbaan was last seen trailing in 11th place in the Autumn Mile at York in October, which was a 0-105 handicap in which nine of the ten horses ahead of him were rated 93 or more, which is seven pounds higher than any of the rivals he will face in this lower-class 0-85 affair.

Now back at the mark at which he won the Coral Golden Mile at Goodwood in July 2022, he reunites with his most regular rider, Jason Watson, who guided an 11/1 shot into Thirsk’s winners’ enclosure on Tuesday and was edged out twice by a nose on two of his three rides at Wolverhampton on Wednesday.

16:50 (Southwell) Savvy Brilliance

Odds-on favourite Savvy Brilliance is expected to dominate after completing a hat-trick of wins at Wolverhampton in January.

If such a short price does not appeal, then each-way hunters shoudl get behind the Ivan Furtado-trained bottom-weight Rock N Roll Pinkie, who has also been gained some traction in the market.

The four-year-old filly does not seem to have done much recently to warrant such support, but she did give an indication of her potential when landing a competitive eight-runner handicap on the turf at Wetherby this time last year.

She returned from a six-month break to produce a couple of modest performances over 14 furlongs at this venue in January, with the second of those a more creditable sixth of ten that appeared to show some progress.

Now rested for a further 11 weeks, she returns relatively fresh for this first attempt over a longer extended two mile-trip, so it appears she is still a work in progress as connection seek her favoured distance (she began her career as a seven-furlong sprinter just 14 months ago.

Rock N Roll Pinkie was available at 33/1 when markets opened on Wednesday night, but that price was quickly slashed in half to stabilise at her current 14/1 tag, which still represents good value for a moderate each-way play.

17:23 (Southwell) Westmorian

Westmorian brings strong form with a Newcastle six furlong handicap success preceding a pair of placings at this track.

The five-year-old rates a top selection in the Get Emma's Offers At Planetsportbet Handicap.

Airshow scored narrowly at Chelmsford attempting a seven furlong handicap prior to a smart second over six furlong here, so should be included on the shortlist.

Whenthedealinsdone went well at Lingfield a month ago when a close third contesting a six furlong handicap and can build on that effort.
