Fourteen months and 11 outings without a win does not offer the most promising form, but he gave a glimpse of rekindling former glories when coming a never-nearer fourth at Hamilton a month ago, barely more than a length behind the winner in a blanket finish.
He is now off a mark that is 18 pounds lower than it was just over a year ago, and the feeling is that his dropping weight is aligning with his winning capabilities.
His strong finish last time out has encouraged his connections to step him up to seven furlongs for the first time, while the five-pound claim of jockey William Pyle drops his mark below all but the bottom weight, further enhancing his chancing of outracing his odds.
