Hereford top racing tip: Newtonian looking to justify strong market support

Hereford
Another intriguing-looking race, sponsored by our friends at Planet Sport Bet, has Tipstrr’s pundits gravitating towards a maiden hurdler who has been gaining plenty of support in the betting market.
15:37 Hereford: Play Beat Sav! At PlanetSportBet Novices’ Handicap Hurdle (3 miles 2 furlongs)
If the form book and the bookies are to be trusted, then this should be a stroll in the park for warm favourite Major Fortune, who looked in great shape when getting off the mark in an 11-runner 1-100 handicap at Market Rasen on Boxing Day.
A three-pound rise should not be enough to diminish his prospects in this lower-graded affair, and the booking of Harry Skelton should only increase hopes and expectations of further progress.

A Dublin Job and Moonlight Artist look best equipped to give the market leader something to think about, although if only the minor places are up for grabs, then more appealing each-way value might be found deeper in the better, especially with four places readily available.
Kerry Lee’s Arctic Footprint good punch above the eight-pound hike he carries after landing a nine-runner handicap at Ffos Las last month, but getting the nod from the Tipstrr camp is the Sheppard yard’s seven-year-old gelding, Newtonian, who was available at a whopping 40/1 last night, but whose price has plunged to single digits throughout the morning.
Yet to win after 16 attempts, and failing to complete two of his last three outings, Newtonian clearly has plenty to prove, although being pulled up last time out over this course and distance 11 days ago may have been more precautionary than a sign of anything seriously amiss.
It appears the handicapper is trying to help the cause, as he lines up here off a lowest-ever mark that is 25 pounds lower than this time last year, while the reintroduction of cheekpieces could also work in his favour.
It’s worth noting that the trainer’s son, Sam Sheppard, is in red-hot form in the saddle, piloting four winners and two runners-up from just seven rides since the turn of the year, and he will belooking to land another frame finish at a decent double-price here.
Suggested best bet: Newtonian each-way in the 15:37 at Hereford
