13:07 (Hereford) Genietoile

Genietoile finished downfield in a G2 at Cheltenham. This represents a notable drop in grade, so will be in the mix in the Bet 10 Get 10 At Planetsportbet Maiden Hurdle.

Katate Dori made the frame tackling the trip at Chepstow and should be on your shortlist.

13:37 (Hereford) Crystal Moon

Crystal Moon opened his chasing account with a three length triumph at Huntingdon.

Entitled to have needed the run when reappearing from a lengthy absence at Doncaster in November.

A bold bid is anticipated in the Best Odds Guaranteed At Planetsportbet Handicap Chase.

Ya Know Yaseff has won two of her last six races. Shaped as though still nicely treated on figures when runner-up at Wincanton and will be the main danger.

Doyens De Ante produced a pair of wins tackling fences last season and is feared when resuming.

Lindisfarne finished fifth behind the second mentioned at Wincanton and could get into the places.

14:07 (Hereford) Newmill Getaway

Imperial Jade comes into the race with the form and credentials to justify her early favouritism.

Never out of the frame in five outings in her debut campaign last winter, Charlie Longsdon’s five-year-old ran well for much of her handicap and season debut at Doncaster a month ago and has scope for further improvement.

Such is the open nature of this handicap hurdle that the next six in the betting are separated by barely a couple of points, headed by Super Dawn, who looks of definite interest here as she makes her stable debut for new trainer James Owen, and will be piloted by Harry Cobden, whose booking could be significant here.

Come On Du Berlais has been placed in 10 of her 12 starts, including seven runner-up spots and an early bumper success, and so should be taken seriously, as should I Am How I Look, who could be a different proposition now handicapping for the in-form yard of Dan Skelton.

With five places widely available, each-way options abound, and of the real outsiders Quiet Thunder could outrun her price off a low mark, while Mitchell Hunt’s Just Go For It won twice in March and might be interesting on her return from an extended break.

However, the horse to have caught the attention of both the betting market and Tipstrr’s each-way specialists is Newmill Getaway, from the small string of David Brace, who has seen 18 of his 38 runners make the frame so far this season, including seven winners.

This capable five-year-old finished first, second and third in three late-summer bumper outings, and made a promising start over obstacles when runner-up of eight on her hurdling debut at Exeter in October.

She will need to bounce back from her two most recent outings, the second of which was over this course and distance in November, but she should now return fresh from a 55-day break, while the application of first-time cheekpieces should help jockey Connor Brace get the best out of her on handicap debut.

Newmill Getaway was available at a tasty 16/1 on Sunday night, and while that value has been gobbled up, the fact that her price has halved suggests that she is expected to put in a decent effort here.

14:37 (Hereford) School Days Over

School Days Over should appreciate returning to a familiar course and distance in the Read Harry Cobden’s Blog At PlanetSportBet Handicap Chase.

Successful over this two miles and five furlongs on his penultimate start, he then dropped back a couple of furlongs at Doncaster and could do nothing more than keep on for third under a 5lb higher mark.

Eased 1lb subsequently, it may well be he just wants a longer trip now.

15:07 (Hereford) Benny Silver

Benny Silver placed over course and distance two runs back. Just denied last time in a small field Leicester handicap and a big run is anticipated in the Daily Racing Specials At Planetsportbet Handicap Chase.

Passing Reflection disappointed as favourite with a tame effort at Doncaster. May bounce back now dropping in trip.

Mister Marbles was in touch with the leaders before unseating his rider at Ludlow.

Famoso won twice since switching yards and remains of interest despite climbing in the weights.

15:37 (Hereford) Newtonian

If the form book and the bookies are to be trusted, then this should be a stroll in the park for warm favourite Major Fortune, who looked in great shape when getting off the mark in an 11-runner 1-100 handicap at Market Rasen on Boxing Day.

A three-pound rise should not be enough to diminish his prospects in this lower-graded affair, and the booking of Harry Skelton should only increase hopes and expectations of further progress.

A Dublin Job and Moonlight Artist look best equipped to give the market leader something to think about, although if only the minor places are up for grabs, then more appealing each-way value might be found deeper in the better, especially with four places readily available.

Kerry Lee’s Arctic Footprint good punch above the eight-pound hike he carries after landing a nine-runner handicap at Ffos Las last month, but getting the nod from the Tipstrr camp is the Sheppard yard’s seven-year-old gelding, Newtonian, who was available at a whopping 40/1 last night, but whose price has plunged to single digits throughout the morning.

Yet to win after 16 attempts, and failing to complete two of his last three outings, Newtonian clearly has plenty to prove, although being pulled up last time out over this course and distance 11 days ago may have been more precautionary than a sign of anything seriously amiss.

It appears the handicapper is trying to help the cause, as he lines up here off a lowest-ever mark that is 25 pounds lower than this time last year, while the reintroduction of cheekpieces could also work in his favour.

It’s worth noting that the trainer’s son, Sam Sheppard, is in red-hot form in the saddle, piloting four winners and two runners-up from just seven rides since the turn of the year, and he will belooking to land another frame finish at a decent double-price here.

16:10 (Hereford) Mokoro

Indeed, red-hot favourite Jacobin is expected to turn this two-mile bumper into a procession.

His runner-up spot on debut in heavy ground at Chepstow two months ago suggests that this five-year-old has a bright future in the capable hands of trainer Paul Nicholls and returning jockey Harry Cobden.

His main challengers are likely to be fellow market leaders, King Of Tara and Mokoro, both of whom come from equally impressive teams in the shape of the O’Neill stable and Skelton yard respectively.

King Of Tara finished close-up runner-up in two similar events at either side of a summer-lay-off, and was not fazed by the heavy going in the latter of those two outings at Chepstow three months ago.

However, it is the as-yet untried Mokoro who has received our final nod, and his position among the betting principals suggests that good things are expected from Dan Skelton’s charge here.

The Skeltons produced a first-time bumper winner at Doncaster just last week, and the yard is generally in red-hot form, saddling three winners in the last nine runners, including Jay Jay Reilly who landed the Lanzarote Hurdle at Kempton on Saturday.

Although Mokoro is an unknown quantity, the yard has only sent three runners to Hereford, where they boast an impressive 27% win rate over the last five seasons, and that rate could well have climbed by the end of the afternoon.
