Goodwood racing tips: Nymphadora and Jason Watson can defy odds in King George Stakes

The biggest race of the day has attracted a high-quality field of 11 scheduled starters, with the short-priced favourite opening up the door for some intriguing each-way options.

15:35 King George Qatar Stakes (5 furlongs)

There's clearly plenty to like about the odds-on favourite Highfield Princess, although she is winless in four outings, including two attempts in the space of four days at Royal Ascot, where she was the beaten favourite in both the King's Stand Stakes and the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes.

The quality is obviously there, but such a short price holds little appeal, with second-favourite Equality looking to be the main threat under Ryan Moore after landing the Coral Charge in impressive style at Sandown four weeks ago.

Beyond the two market principals, the remainder of the field are all available at double-digit prices and each-way possibilities abound.

Pick of the bunch and popular among Tipstrr's each-way specialists is Andrew Balding's Nymphadora, who joins Equality as the only last-time-out winners in the field.

This promising four-year-old filly has proved herself in various conditions, including in ground even more testing that here when winning on a bottomless Chester track in May.
She has since backed that up by landing the City Walls Stakes on faster ground at York three weeks ago, when she held off the challenge of the reopposing Silkie Wilkie with plenty in hand.

Jason Watson retains the ride after that success, and it's worth noting that this underrated jockey has already made the most of just two previous rides at Goodwood this week, and is clearly to stranger to steering big-priced outsiders into contention.

On Wednesday he teamed up with Balding again to guide The Goat to victory in the Coral Handicap at odds of 25/1, and the following day came close to doubling his winning tally when Richard Fahey's 22/1 shot Gamraan finished strongly with only one of his dozen rivals ahead of him.
Suggested bet: Nymphadora each-way the 15:35 at Goodwood

Of the others, Frankie Dettori might be able to get more out of Equilateral than the eight-year-old has managed since his last win in 2021, while the previous course-distance form (112) of last-year's close-up second, Raasel, suggests he could bounce back from his disappointing showing in the Coral Handicap here just three days ago.

Outsider punt: Raasel each-way the 15:35 at Goodwood
