DENIED (1) showed good early speed then led into the straight last start before fighting on to finish second, beaten 0.8 lengths, over 6¾f at Ipswich. Well-placed and will take catching. MASTER SHOWMAN (2) was returning from a break last time out and proved too classy, scoring by 0.6 lengths over 5½f at Ipswich. Open to plenty of improvement and looks a big threat to the top selection. TRANQUIL BAY (9) resumed two weeks ago over 6f at Doomben and was only beaten 1.75 lengths into fourth. Nicely placed to take this out. TATTLE (16) didn’t threaten when resuming last start over 6f at Eagle Farm, finishing fifth, beaten 3 lengths. Generally goes well with that run under the belt. Should be much improved.
