SMOTHER (4) is a four-year-old gelding who is having his first run for the Michael Hickmott stable. Finished off last campaign with a fifth at Geelong nine weeks ago. Hasn't trialled publicly but looks well placed. Can return in winning form. EMOTIVE (6) was unwanted in betting on debut last start but ran a strong race, finishing third and beaten a long neck over 5½f at Gawler. Can get off the mark this time. JURA VAUDOIS (8) finished third at Swan Hill two runs back but didn't measure up last time over 5¼f at Balaklava, finishing 6 lengths back in eighth. Likely improver with strong prospects. RULED BY THIEVES (2) was unplaced two runs back then again missed the frame last start over 5f at Morphettville Parks, beaten 7 lengths into seventh. Better than recent efforts suggest.
