HURDWICK STONE (2) lifted strongly only to just miss when fresh from a lay-off last start over 1m at Werribee. Will take a lot from that hitout. Ready to go one better. MARAMA (5) is closing in on a win, last time out finishing third over 1m2 1/4f at Cranbourne when just 1.2 lengths from the winner. Don't underestimate. MARLIN (3) is still a maiden after 17 runs. Was in the market last time out but didn't live up to market expectations, finishing fourth over 1m1f at Hanging Rock. Finds the right race and is worth consideration. RIBBLE VALLEY (8) finished 9 lengths away in fifth at her last appearance over 1m4 1/4f at Moe on December 17 after she was well back on straightening. Looks to be in the right race to figure in the finish.
