EXPRESS GUARD (12) has been in the betting at both starts but has failed to break through. Most recently finished fourth over 7½f at Bendigo, beaten 3.5 lengths. One of the leading contenders in this suitable contest. HOT TOO GO (13) finished seventh when resuming two runs back then did a good job last start but found one better over 7½f at Bendigo, beaten only 1.3 lengths after being in contention on the corner. Must raise the bar but another big run is on the cards. EL PASO (11) impressed last time out at the second run of the campaign and finished 3 lengths from the winner in second over 1m at Benalla. Stepping up a level this time but on his best form he is one of the chief contenders. AUTUMNHEAT (10) faded right out of it last time over 1m1f at Flemington after showing good early speed and leading for much of the way, eventually finishing ninth. Can sneak into the finish.
