DIAMOND GUST (7) came home soundly to finish fourth when resuming over 6f at Mornington last time out. Has never been out of the placings at this stage of the prep. Fitter and with the blinkers added is expected to be in the finish. CAPITAL GRACE (4) returned from a lay-off last start with a strong win by a nose over 7f at Werribee. Open to plenty of improvement and another big run will not surprise. FOREST JIM (6) has been out of the placings in two runs since a break, the latest when fourth, beaten 3. 5 lengths, over 7f at Echuca. Will strip fitter and shapes as a leading player. MASTERFUL (1) was unplaced two runs back then again missed the frame last start over 1m at Cranbourne, beaten 4 lengths into fifth. Better than recent efforts suggest.
