CANDLEWICK (3) was a new acquisition for the Joseph Pride yard last start when she made steady ground to run into third over 5½f at this track at the first run back from a lay-off. One of the genuine hopes in the race. USEAPIN (8) was below her best last time when ninth over 6½f at Gold Coast, beaten 5. 5 lengths. This doesn't look as hard so she is perfectly placed to score. HEAT MISSILE (10) drifted back then made late ground to finish sixth when when resuming from a lay-off last start over 5½f at Wyong. Has never been out of the placings at this stage of the prep. Will find this tougher but is capable of featuring. BESIDE THE OCEAN (11) settled well back last time out then found the line strongly to finish 1. 1 lengths away in fourth over 5½f at Wyong. One of the main contenders.
