FOX GEM (6) resumed over 7f at Penola where he showed little early speed but got home nicely to finish fourth, beaten 2 lengths. Outdashed but got home well and the longer journey looks ideal. Will be winding up strongly. CLEITUS (10) was out of the money two runs back then again missed the frame last start over 7¾f at Morphettville Parks, beaten 5. 5 lengths into eighth. Meeting a tougher field but on his best form he is one of the key runners. LONGER ROUTE (2) returned from a lay-off three weeks ago when he was beaten 4 lengths into tenth over 7f at Murray Bridge. Second up record is very strong. Likely improver with strong prospects. FLAMING NAVY (8) is coming along nicely this prep, scoring by 6 lengths last start over 1m at Balaklava. Well placed to feature in the finish again.
