NOLAN (4) has been in the placings at both runs this prep, most recently a closing second over 5f at Townsville. Big chance to break through. BOOMING LAD (1) won when resuming two starts ago but was less effective last time out when 2 lengths from the winner in fifth over 6f at Rockhampton. Has the gate speed to take up a forward position. Will prove tough to beat. PARADE GROUND (6) is back at the races for the first time since September 10. Worth noting he filled a minor placing when returning from a lay-off last time in work over 6f at Kembla Grange. Hasn't scored when fresh from a break but generally races well with two minor placings. Makes plenty of appeal. LAST DITCH EFFORT (3) is having his first run since October 29. Goes well when fresh with a win and two placings from four starts. Placed in a recent trial. Top-three claims.
