LOVIN' BEV (6) is knocking on the door after three minor placings from three runs since resuming from a lay-off, most recently finishing third over 6¾f at Devonport Synthetic on September 14. Has a high cruising speed. Leading contender. FIGHTING FLOYD (7) is going well, scoring by one length two runs back at Hobart before finishing fourth last time over 6¾f at Devonport Synthetic. Backmarker who keeps coming. Will prove tough to stop. VERBANO (9) is fitter for two runs back from a break. Turned in a better effort last time when fourth over 6¾f at Devonport Synthetic. Will drift back but wind up late. Can run on into the finish.
