VOMO ISLAND (5) has a moderate winning strike-rate but performed well last time at this track, finishing second and only 1.75 lengths from the winner at the end of 7f. Looks well placed so expect a big run this time. SMART ACTION (8) got well back over 7f at Newcastle last time and never threatened, eventually finishing 9 lengths away in fifth. Finds a nice race and can figure in the finish. FIRE TRIBE (4) drifted well back last start then wound up strongly to finish fourth, beaten 4 lengths, over 6¼f at Canterbury. Was outdashed but got going late and looks suited by the extra ground. Rates highly on best figures. MONTE MAXIMUS (7) built on a nice third two starts back at this track with success over 6½f at Hawkesbury four weeks ago, getting home by 0.6 lengths. Finds a suitable race and can build on that last-start success.
