CALICO JACK (1) finished seventh two runs back at Sandown-Hillside then improved last time out to score by 1.3 lengths after being in contention on the corner over 6¾f at Geelong. Taking on a better field but he is good enough to cope. VALOIS (3) went forward and gave a great sight before finishing second last time out over 7f at Sandown-Hillside. Taking on a better field but he is good enough to take this out. . And looks close to a win after finishing a close second last time out over 7f at cranbourne. Goes well at this journey with two wins and two placings from five starts and is one of the prime contenders. WILLMOTT (7) showed good early speed and raced just off the lead before lifting to score by 0.8 lengths over 6½f at Bendigo last start. Can figure in the finish again.
