MIDAS STAR (7) improved sharply on his fourth two starts back at Townsville with success as public elect over 5f at Bowen a week-and-a-half ago, getting home by half a length. Meeting a tougher field but on his best form he is right in contention. DEALING'S DONE (6) doesn't win very often but ran a strong race last time out over 6½f at Mackay, finishing fourth and beaten 2.5 lengths when he did his best work late. Tackling a more suitable race so he is a major player. VIBURNUM (2) finished 13th two runs back then improved last start but found one better over 6f at Richmond Qld, beaten 1.2 lengths. This looks a sterner test than last time but on his best form he is capable of testing his rivals. CAPTAIN BOND (1) has been out of the winner's list for a long time, last start finishing 13th at Townsville over 6½f after he gave away a big start. Good enough on his day and can run a bold race.
