CORNELIAN BAY (4) settled well back from a wide draw last time then wound up strongly to finish fourth over 5¾f at this track. Looks suited here and rates a major contender. THOROS OF MYR (2) turned in a fine effort to win by one length at this course and distance last start in a much improved run. Going up a level this time but he can get the job done. WARICA (5) finished 2.5 lengths from the winner in fifth last start over 5¾f at this track, an improvement on his eighth at Launceston the run before. Must raise the bar but he has the talent to test this line-up. ALPINE BLAST (3) was unplaced two runs back then again missed the frame last start over 1m1/4f at this track, beaten 3.5 lengths into fifth. Best efforts measure up so worth another chance.
