THE PENINSULA (10) has been thereabouts without winning, the most recent offering a third at Tampa Bay Downs (Turf) over 1m1/2f when he was beaten 2.5 lengths. Overdue and looks a top chance. Multiple Group 3 placegetter THE KING CHEEK (6) progressed nicely last time out to finish just 0.8 lengths from the winner in second over 1m1f at Laurel after being in the firing line on the turn. Has his share of talent. Hard to beat in this suitable race. GUNSLINGER (11) returns from a lay-off of 11 weeks and it is noteworthy that he has saluted at his past two when resuming appearances, last prep over 1m1/2f at Pimlico. One of the genuine hopes in the race.
