BLACK COAL (1) put the writing on the wall last time when second at this track over 6f, beaten a head after being in the firing line on the turn. Suitably placed so anticipating another big run. BALANCE (9) is on debut for the Clinton McDonald stable. Three-year-old filly by Alabama Express from Honey Esprit. Has trialled recently. Looks a definite contender, particularly if the money comes. HARRY DE LAD (5) showed good early speed then led into the straight last start before fighting on to finish third, beaten 1. 75 lengths, over 5f152yards at Geelong. One of the main contenders. PURSUANT (6) is back after a break of five months. At the last run before the layoff he finished fifth over 6f at Bairnsdale. Should present well following a recent trial win. Nicely placed and can figure in the finish.
