MUTAFIQ (1) stepped up in trip to 6½f last time at Mackay and ran below his best, finishing 4 lengths away in fifth. Looks better placed over this shorter trip so can bounce back. GEM OF SCOTS (8) was out of the money when resuming from a lay-off last start over 4¾f at this track, beaten 5. 5 lengths. Fitter and sure to run well. STATE Set Weights OMAN (9) hit the frame two starts ago at Townsville but ran below par last time when sixth and beaten 3 lengths over 5f at Townsville. Best figures measure up nicely. Solid top-three prospects.
