MY MATE COBBER (5) was well in commission last time out but could only manage to finish seventh over 7½f at Port Augusta in a disappointing performance. Best figures measure up nicely. Sure to run well. WHITCHETY GRUB (12) was in contention on the bend and ran a better race last start to finish a close third over 1m at Balaklava after missing the placings at the previous appearance. Finds a suitable race and can take the next step and salute. BLUE SPECIAL (4) was out of the money two runs back then again missed the frame last start when he settled well back over 1m at Murray Bridge, beaten 3 lengths into tenth. This is a nice drop in grade so he is sure to be prominent. TORVECCHIO (11) has been in the market at her last couple of runs since resuming but failed to threaten, the latest effort a modest tenth at Swan Hill over 6f. Can improve and is worth including.
