ALERO (6) raced on the speed last start and battled on well but found one better over 7f at Caulfield. Is going okay this campaign, recording two wins and a minor placing from six starts. Leading contender. ROSA AOTEAROA (13) went fast early and went on to score by 1. 75 lengths when resuming last time out over 6f at Sale. Needs to be at his best to beat this field but he has the ability to mix it with them. GOLDEN SPRITZ (17) went forward last time and battled on gamely to finish just a neck from the winner in second over 6f at Cranbourne when returning from a layoff. Must raise the bar but a big run is on the cards. NEARING LIBERTY (7) closed last campaign with three consecutive minor placings and is back. After a break of five-and-a-half months. Expected to be competitive.
